I’m someone who pays attention to the details and makes sure things get done the way they should. I like working with information, keeping things organized, and catching what might otherwise be missed. I want the work to feel organized, handled properly, and easy to rely on.
My Story
Hi, I’m Afia. I originally thought I would go into accounting, but once I got to university, I realized I was more interested in the people side of business. After taking my first HR course, everything started to make sense, and I knew I was in the right place.
I was drawn to how HR sits between people, business decisions, and employment law. That led me to build experience through recruitment and administrative work, where I learned how much structure and follow-through matter in day-to-day work.
At Hughes, I support the team with the work that happens behind the scenes. I keep information up to date, handle tasks carefully, and make sure nothing gets missed. I want people to feel comfortable relying on the work I do and confident that things are moving forward.
Outside of work, I’m usually recharging with family and friends, good music, or a drive with no set destination. I like learning new things, especially languages. I speak six and am currently working on number seven.
